Does anyone know the reason for why the pilot in the right seat takes over after touchdown?

It is not an A 340-600, nor an A 340-500. This is an A 340-300 with the smallest engines. And yes, it suffers to take off, even at normal altitudes (near sea level). For the A 340-300, reaching the cruising altitude of these large commercial aircraft is more laborious than the A 340-500/600 or other B777.
